The Photo and Video Backup Issue
Technology has advanced and come quite a long way over the past couple of decades, especially when it comes to storage technology! It wasn’t that long ago that I was storing important data on large floppy disks. Those large floppy disks would in time turn into smaller floppy disks and before I know it, CDs came out, then DVDs and just shortly after that; USB thumb-drives! And now we have cloud storage for those that are connected to the vast internet 24/7, along side gadgets such as the best photo stick. So what about picture keeper vs photo stick?
So you can see, there has been quite a number of ways for us to create a back up of our files. But what if you want something that is both convenient and designed specifically for storing thousands of photos and video files? Something that doesn’t require to be constantly online and is the size of a small thumb drive? Something like a photo backup stick.
Photo and Video backup has always been a bit of an inconvenience and a little bit of an issue. On one hand, it’s something we all want to do. To create a back up of your files and make sure have copies and save all of our cherished memories that are photo or video format. On the other hand, it can be extremely time consuming and a bit of a hassle, specially if you're have slow writing speed. Well, the solution is to get yourself a Photo stick USB. Read the rest of this Photostick review to see if it's for you. There are many reviews out there, but in this thephotostick reviews; we'll try to get into more details.
How does it work?
So, how to use Photo Stick? And is it really the best photo stick around? As I have already mentioned, Photo stick UK does away with all of the selecting individual photos and video file nonsense. Instead, with this best Photo stick device, you simply plug the USB sized gadget into your computer or laptop (or any device that supports or has a USB port). Of course, make sure your computer or whatever device you’re using it on is turned on and running. We'll get into more instructions down below in this photo stick reviews.
Once it’s plugged in and the Photo stick has been recognised, a window will pop up and there’ll be a button for you to press. Once you click on that button, the best photo stick will get to work. It starts with scanning your device for all relevant media files (photo and video files). This can take anywhere between a minute to over a quarter of an hour, depending on exactly how many video and photo files you have on your computer, and the overall speed and power of your computer device also. When testing it for this thephotostick reviews, it was pretty quick for me.
Once Photostick is done with its scanning process, it then starts with the backing up process. Did you notice there was no selecting of files? No diving in and manually picking out each and every photo or video file. That’s the beauty of best Photo stick, and it’s my favourite feature and a big reason as to why I’m writing this Photo stick reviews amongst many thephotostick reviews.
The actual backup process is streamlined. Once it has all of the videos and photos it has found on your computer, it automatically will start backing all of them up into the Photostick itself. And all you’ve had to do is plug it into your computer, and press “go”. Simple and easy, how all modern tech should be. During my own tests for writing this thephotostick reviews, it all went pretty smoothly for me.
It doesn’t have the same potential risks and problems as online cloud storage services and it’s much more streamlined, easy and more convenient than using your traditional standard USB thumbdrive. The big down side to best Photo stick however, is the same as having a normal USB thumbdrive, which is that it’s prone to “human error”. Just don’t lose it and the best photo stick can continue doing what it does best.
Media Formats and Compatibility
You may have run into this issue in the past, where when trying to transfer certain files between your laptop and someplace else, you get compatibility issues. Video files that played on your laptop, are having trouble playing on your tablet or something along those lines, right? When doing research and tests for this thephotostick reviews, I found out it supports multiple file formats. I was definitely excited for the best photo stick device and for writing this Photo stick reviews.
That’s the great thing about Photostick, it supports multiple image formats like JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, ICO, Camera Raw, PD, PDD, PCT, and PICT formats and accepts MOV, QT, MPEG4, AVI, and WMV video formats as well.

Why I personally use Photostick!
In my thephotostick review I will talk about the other storage methods that I have tried and people tend to use, going over the pros and cons of each one. But before this, let’s discuss the reasons as to why I personally choose to use Photostick over the other storage methods.
Firstly, there are no ongoing monthly fees like you have with online backup services. Second, it's secure! But ultimately it’s convenient
In this day and age, I think most gadgets and services available to people are mostly about the convenience of it all. Think about how technology and gadgets have evolved over the past few decades, everything has just become a lot more convenient. So why is the Photostick so convenient? Because it’s basically a “plug and play” kind of device. With the other more traditional methods of backing up and storing away your media files, you have to manually select your precious memories and then manually move them over, resulting in a slow, boring and manual method of backing up. Thephotostick 2.0 does away with all of that nonsense, and makes everything extremely easy for its users.
Alternatives; Other storage solutions…
Still not convinced with my Photo stick reviews about the best photo stick? Okay let’s take a look at the other current options for backing up your precious memories.
At the top of my mind and as of writing this photo stick reviews; the most popular forms and methods of backing up your files are; the use of external hard-drives. The use of standard traditional (non photo stick) USB thumb drives. And the use of online storage, also known as Cloud Storage. Now of course, there are probably other methods that people utilise when it comes to backing up their photos and video files, but these are surely the most popular ways that I’ve seen.
Let's continue with our photo stick reviews. Let’s take a look at the potential issues and inconvenience of each method of back up that I mentioned in my photo stick reviews.
To me, they are large and bulky. Yes, even the slim ones! Not only that, you have to carry around their cable as well, so that you can connect the external hard drive to your laptop and/or computer. This means that mobile devices tend to get left out (which is something Photostick can assist with as well, with their mobile Photostick line).
When writing this thephotostick reviews, I found the best benefit of external hard drives is their large storage space and their usually quick writing speed. But you’re swapping out a lot of convenience, and you still have to go through the old method of selecting and manually backing up each and every one of your photo and video files. Not ideal. Another factor that is not ideal, is their cost. External hard-drives are much pricier than their smaller standard USB counter parts. Another thing you have to worry about, is the fact that losing an external hard-drive is entirely possible. So be careful!
Traditional standard USB thumb drives / Flash drives
Flash drives are smaller than their external hard-drive counter parts, so that’s a plus. But usually comes in much smaller sizes and their writing speed much slower also. The biggest up side they have on their external hard-drive counter parts is their small size, making them much more convenient to carry around. Another plus is that you can typically find decent quality USB thumb drives for cheap. Much cheaper compared to external hard-drives or subscribing to a cloud storage service.
Like anything that is physical; it is prone to being lost. You thought you had placed your USB or external hard-drive at your computer desk, but now it’s no longer there. Yup, congratulations, it’s gone and you’ve lost it. All those photos and videos that were stored inside, gone with the wind. Unless you can find it of course.
Let's discuss Photo stick vs Flash drive. The main issue, which is the same issue as external hard drives, you have to put yourself through the dull and slow method of manually selecting and manually backing up each one of your photos and each one of your video files. A boring back up is a bad back up.
Cloud storage and online services
This method is probably my favourite out of the alternatives presented here, though it does come with some hefty cons, which we’ll get into towards the bottom of this section.
A great thing is, you don’t have to carry anything around, and you can being your back ups straight from your device it self. Whether that be your computer, laptop, tablet or mobile device.
However, the biggest issue with cloud storage for me is that I am not connected to wifi, or 4G constantly. Whether it’s due to a bad connection or signal, or perhaps I’m out of the country and on holiday. Whatever the case is, if I’m not online or connected to an internet connection in any way, then I can’t can't access my uploaded photos or even go ahead with backing up my new photos and videos also risking losing my thousands of holiday photos that I’ve just taken.
And usually, depending on your subscription of cloud storage service, it’s quite expensive. Even with cheaper subscriptions, it can add up as you usually have to pay monthly or yearly in order to get access to their online storage service. And even with these pricey online cloud storage services, you will usually end up manually selecting which photos and which video files you want to back up. Not very fun.
Another thing to keep in mind, is that you are relying on the service of a company. Unlike physical storage devices such as external hard-drives and USB thumb drives (which can be misplaced and ultimately lost), the risk of losing your media files is not your own.
Besides forgetting your login and password (which can be recovered), you run the risk that this company may not be around for ever. Thus their online cloud storage service may not be around forever. If they go bankrupt and they have to end their service; then that means that all of your precious memories will disappear with them also. Now let's get back to the positives of thephotostick reviews.
